frozen time

This last bit has been a rough little limbotime. One of those "one small problem after another until together they're all just a little bit too much and could we please just stop now" kinda deals but with several big problems thrown in for good measure! I want to believe we've finally hit a turning point and can start recovering. I'd like that.

In all of this I've still managed to complete or make Cool Progress in a few zine ideas, tho. I'm hoping I can get to the library today or tomorrow to print two^[1]; I was mock-hoping I could finish my third idea--my current favorite--in time for this weekend, but I didn't even start it 'till sunday and see paragraph one. I'm excited 'cuz it's showing off my growing color pencil skill^[2] and hits a particular blend-of-concepts-slash-feelings that is very True to Type for me. I was lowkey gunning to have it done for this weekend because it's our town's annual fall market, something Em & her dad are very into and I get to ride along on to sell anything weird I've made free of burden or expectation--between the pumpkins they grow and the knit toys Em makes they turn way more than enough to cover the booth costs.

I usually put out a few knit Guys, but have been knitting only socks (for Em) this year. Last year I put out a gachapon machine full of my intinitesimal swords, and I think I'll do that again (which reminds me: I have two new colors I can use for them...) plus the two zines I have ready--assuming I can actually get them printed. I love that I can do art for art's sake and then maybe get one sale. I made them for me, and I'm in such a tiny town it's kinda crazy any of it catches an eye.

(except the swords--that's not a surprise. All it took was one kid noticing to get a bunch of mini blades in pockets; who under 12 can resist a tiny sword)
