that's all I could say the whole time I peeled open my 10 year old kindle to replace its battery. Peeled is literally the only appropriate verb; the bezel is gluetaped down, the back, while screwed to the meat of the device, was also attached by four clips near the center of mass. Absolutely bonkers design, 1/10 experience. I have it plugged in to charge unassembled to make sure it's working and I'm tempted to leave the front bezel off untill I do a whole battery cycle... but if all goes as it should that's gonna be a couple months so I will probably not be doing that.
I'm going from a charge every other day or so to hopefully back to its original battery life of ~3 months[1], which I do think is worth the effort here. I love keeping a tech around as long as possible, and while the newest ereaders are lookin real shiny (color even!!!), I do not want to have to navigate the OS and/or book source landscape at all. Repair good, even when it bad.
or whatever it was; time's fake, I have no idea how long it was for sure but I remember being surprised every time I had to charge it it was so infrequent ↩︎
