a triangle lives here

art

We have a bunch of artwork over our bed. A Ansel Adams print. A Audubon print. A lovely print of a pair of herons a friend painted. Some assorted other bits. They're in black frames, and in general are, if not black & white, high contrast at least.

Snapdragon loves staring at them. I don't think as a month old she can focus very well or really see with clarity all that far but. She always locks onto the pictures when oriented even sorta towards them anywhere in the room. Today I was sitting in bed and holding her in my lap in such a way she could look up at them as I read, but after a bit she got reeal antsy, and not really in a "I have to poop" sort of way. On a whim, I decided to try lifting her closer to the paintings, and she immediately chilled out, staring intently at a heron. Surely it's a fluke, though? Just happy to be held in a different way? I brought her back down and she started up her wiggling and spine arching again. I held her up twice more until she was apparently done with the game and was happy to settle back down

Now. She could just be happy to swoosh around and change positions a few times and I'm reading into things but. Man. Babies have a way of showing you what they want if you pay attention and I'm pretty sure she wanted a good look at that bird.
